Liverpool’s Divock Origi will have scan on injury which forced him out of Newcastle win, says Jurgen Klopp
Divock Origi will have a scan on an ankle injury sustained in the 3-1 win over Newcastle of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has stated.
Origi was injured in an early struggle by Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron and limped to the seat eight minutes prior to half-time, prior to his replacement Roberto Firmino played a major part in Liverpool targets.
Klopp said:”Regrettably Divock twisted his ankle early in the match, and had to come off. We all hope it’s not that severe, or he could have played , that is a sign that it’s not that severe. He’s having a scan, he is in really great shape and they’ll find it’s fine.
” It was my own decision to launch on the left and right Sadio at the center, we’ve seen it work before, however, it didn’t work today against such a deep side. That is why we changed it at the sport also.”
Besides that harm, Klopp had chance with the sloppy start to the game of Liverpool, permitting Jetro Willems to fire Newcastle leaving only one sheet by their opening five matches of the season to Liverpool.
“I started loving it once about 25 minutes when we eventually came from the game,” he said. “We need to work on this but it sometimes happens, it was difficult. When they’re good on the counter-attack newcastle did what they did, it is difficult.
“We needed an additional 15 minutes or so to set our rhythm, because you have to be much faster than we were in the first area of the game. The moment we started doing this, we scored two wonderful goals and in the next half, after learning in the game we scored after but played extremely well.”
When Joel Matip seemed to be hauled to the ground by Jamaal Lascelles liverpool were denied a penalty but a VAR review agreed with on-field referee Andre Marriner’s decision.
The under-fire video inspection program has come in for criticism because of its large bar that has been put to overturn’obvious and clear errors’, with referees chief Mike Riley declaring that week had missed four major events so far this season, also Klopp stated he would have anticipated a review to have overturned the decision on this event.
“I believe they did a critique, the fourth told me that they did, and was I surprised it wasn’t a punishment? Yes,” he said. “But that does not help clearly in scenarios like this being amazed. It was a clear penalty for me but it’s not an issue – we’d talk.
“it is a punishment; you cannot fight like this to get a ball, it is a wrestling situation on Joel Matip. You do not require VAR, simply whistle and also have a shot.”
